Meet Tomo

Licenced Massage Therapist

Dedicated to Your Well-being

Tomo grew up in Japan where Eastern and Western Medical techniques promote a balanced healthy lifestyle. So, when Western Medicine alone couldn't fully address her medical issue, she discovered "Chi Nei Tsang" (internal organ massage) a traditional Eastern Medicine that helped kickstart the healing of her body through physical movement.

Chi Nei Tsang massage is a part of traditional Eastern Medicines like acupuncture. It is a technique that sees the client as a whole person and takes a holistic approach to help clients heal. Your body, mind and spirit all work together, and influence how you feel and heal. This whole person approach is crucial in finding the root cause of a health concern and not just treating its symptoms.

Tomo believes in empowering her clients to take control of their own health by creating a partnership with each person and working as a team to achieve their goals.

Tomo has been studying massage since 2004 and is trained at many different techniques including Thai massage, sport massage, reflexology, shiatsu and Chi Nei Tsang. When she is not in the massage room, she enjoys family time and being outdoors camping and hiking with her husband and son.

Fun Facts about

The Gut and Serotonin

Deep breathing and massage
enhance the connection

01

The Brain-Gut Connection

Your brain and your gut (gastrointestinal tract) talk to each other all the time through hormones and neurotransmitters. This is known as the gut-brain axis. There's a reason that people say, "Go with your gut!".

03

"Happy" starts in the Gut

Serotonin is made with Tryptophan (an essential amino acid from food) and the help of good gut bacteria.

95% of serotonin is made in the gut, but gut-derived serotonin won't be shared with the brain. Just 5% of serotonin is made in the brain.

02

"Feel-Good" Chemical

Serotonin is one of the neurotransmitters; it carries messages between nerve cells in the brain and throughout your body so you can feel, think and move.

Serotonin helps your body to balance your mood, sleep, waking, digestion, wound healing, etc.

04

Good Gut Bacteria

Your gut is home to the bacteria that are responsible for producing serotonin. Studies have found that several species of gut bacteria are missing in people with depression, and that imbalances in gut flora can lead to mood imbalances.

Massage will give the gut space to heal and relax, and the movements will activate and balance the gut flora. Your happiness begins in your gut!
